Before I Fall Reading Response
Over the summer I read many books, but Before I Fall was one of my favorites! It was extremely engaging and kept me reading for hours on end. Before I Fall is about a girl, Samantha, (or Sam as most call her,) who is one of the popular "mean girls" in school. One night, her and her friends are driving home from a party. Sam is riding shotgun, and Lindsay, whose driving the car, is extremely drunk. Elody and Ally are in the back and fighting over what music to listen too, when all of the sudden, the car swerves off the road, totally flips over, and Sam dies... But wakes up, to relive that day over and over and over until she has pretty much turned into a whole new person with different values, and personality traits. One of the things I loved about this book was HOW much of a change Sam goes through- basically turning from an obnoxious, self absorbed girl, to a brave, courageous, selfless girl. By the end of the book, after reliving that one day, seven times, Sam risks her own life to save a girl, Juliet, that her, Lindsay, Elody, Ally, and many others bullied. This moment at the end of the book really made me think, ANYONE can CHANGE. There is ALWAYS a time, and a way.
